The pre-dental preparation course is an intensive one day course organised jointly by Oxbridge Medica and Pro-Dental Academy for students considering applying for an undergraduate dental degree. Run by a combination of consultants, specialists and experienced practitioners this course is designed to give students a real insight to the life of a dentist whilst giving a comprehensive understanding of how Dentistry fits into the NHS.
Uniquely the course offers a very practical, hands on element. As well as having practical exercises on interview technique students will be invited and assisted to develop a hands on practical project that may assist them in showcasing their practical abilities in an dental school interview setting.
Students may also be invited to ‘fill a tooth’ to help them understand the practical realities within dentistry.
Our course will cover the following key areas:
· A day in the life of dentists belonging to different specialties, including, general dental practice, community dentistry, maxillo facial surgery, specialist dental practice
· Update on key issues in dentistry at present. Issues likely to come up in any interview for dentistry at dental school.
· Applying for dentistry
· Interview technique including practical sessions
· ‘Carve a tooth’, practical hands on session.
