This is a practical course in Dermatopathology designed for dermatologists; consultants and trainees. The course has been organised into 2 modules, set 6 months apart, covering inflammation and neoplasia. The course assumes little or no knowledge of pathology and will strive to familiarize dermatologists with the basics of dermatopatholgy including Royal College of Pathology Minimum Datasets. Taught in small groups the sessions will allow a high level of interaction and discussion.
The course has previously been taught as 1-day courses over a two year period and has well developed pre-course and course material. The feedback from past participants has been very encouraging. The course is run by dermatopathologists who have trained in some of the best centres in the United Kingdom. The focus of the course will be on pattern recognition ensuring that dermatologists have a good grasp of Dermatopathology terms, concepts, morphology and datasets. The Modules (Inflammation and Neoplasia) are intentionally set apart to give participants time to absorb and practice the skills they will learn. The training is based on interactive seminars and workshops, combining light microscopy, lectures and discussion groups.
The Inflammatory Module is covered over 2 days in April 2012 with a similar 2 day course on Neoplasia in October 2012. Each of the modules has a precourse DVD containing 10 cases relating to the course and a course manual.
The Course is CPD accredited by the Royal College of Physicians.
Please note places are limited so early booking is advised. The course fees include refreshments, coffee and tea.
